ELIZABETH O'MARA, VIOLIN

 

Elizabeth started playing the violin at the young age of 7 years old. After high school she attended the University of Oregon and received her Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance.  Since 2009 she has been a member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.  Previously in Eugene she performed with Oregon Mozart Players, Corvallis Symphony, Eugene Concert Choir, University of Eugene Symphony Orchestra, University of Oregon Opera Ensemble, as well as many new age and traditional ensembles. While performing Elizabeth also found her love of teaching.  In 2007 Elizabeth received her Masters in Education from Portland State University. Currently, she serves as Orchestra Director at Shahala Middle School, Fishers Landing Elementary, and Illahe Elementary in the Evergreen School District. In 2008 Elizabeth became a founding member of the Vancouver String Quartet. Elizabeth has performed with the Portland Chamber Orchestra, Columbia Chamber Orchestra, and SW Washington Symphony. Outside of teaching and performing, she enjoys playing her flute, playing tennis, horse back riding, cycling, reading, and playing with her dog Stella.
